Plan and construct
scenery and set pieces
for a theatre
production, real or
imagined.
Indicators
| (a) | Review specific responsibilities of head carpenter and staff. |
| (b) | Review set construction and set piece terminology. |
| (c) | Discuss how factors such as doorway dimensions, weight, portability, transporting, load in and load out inform construction of set pieces or scenery. |
| (d) | Plan, draw and construct one or more two-dimensional pieces of scenery such as a flat with a hinged door or flat with a window frame. |

Plan, draw and construct one or more three-dimensional set pieces such as:

| (f) | Review and practise safety precautions required for set construction in a shop and stage setting. |
| (g) | Use appropriate construction materials and bracing (e.g., fasteners, jack braces, weights) to install and secure scenery or set pieces according to safety standards. |
| (h) | Practise good leadership and demonstrate collaboration. |
