Indicators
(a) | Interpret and produce scenic art from design renderings. |
(b) | Experiment with familiar and unfamiliar techniques, materials, finishes and styles for various scenic designs. |
(c) | Organize and maintain the paint department’s materials and tools. |
(d) | Establish goals and create a work plan including a timeline for scenic art production. |
(e) | Complete illusions and faux finishes (e.g., simulating stone, metal or stained glass) in collaboration with carpenters. |
(f) | Experiment with techniques and different types of paint and tools to achieve a desired look. |
(g) | Create sketches and templates to guide the production of scenic art. |
(h) | Justify the use of materials based on criteria such as colour, texture and strength. |
(i) | Guide the work of the paint crew as required. |
(j) | Recognize and apply safe work practices when producing scenic art. |
(k) | Identify potential hazardous materials and relevant procedures for dealing with them as referenced by the Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System program. |
