Outcome
Apply fundamentals of costume design in theatre productions.
Indicators
(a) Describe artistic abilities and technical skills required for costume design and construction for a theatre production.
(b) Create an inspirational image bank of designs that demonstrate selected functions of costumes in theatre.
(c) Apply the principles of design while constructing costumes for a particular act or play.
(d) Design and create costumes for a specific production within a limited budget.
(e) Design and create accessories for a specific costume.
(f) Examine the use of costumes in both the rehearsal and performance phases of a production.
(g) Generate potential costume adaptations for a variety of circumstances (e.g., actors in wheelchairs, quick changes).
(h) Acquire needed costumes within a limited budget.
(i) Practise fitting costumes to actors and managing the wardrobe during the production.
(j) Discuss the difference between representation versus real, or authentic versus stylized designs.
(k) Review and practise safety precautions and procedures associated with costumes and accessories.
