Indicators
(a) | Discuss characteristics of effective theatrical makeup and hair designs. |
(b) | Review and demonstrate safety and sanitation practices appropriate for selecting, applying, removing and storing makeup and hair products. |
(c) | Source innovative examples and create an inspirational image bank of designs that demonstrate selected functions of hair and makeup in theatre. |
(d) | Collaborate with costume designer to create hairstyles, wigs, makeup and special effects. |
(e) | Create special makeup effects (e.g., bruises, tattoos, burns, blisters, bald caps). |
(f) | Examine the uses of three-dimensional makeup materials. |
(g) | Design a prosthetic (e.g., prosthetic nose or facial enhancement). |
(h) | Practise the techniques of three-dimensional makeup in an original design for a given character. |
(i) | Identify community and other resources that could be used in makeup and hair design in theatre. |
(j) | Investigate cultural and historical theatrical hair and makeup applications (e.g., Japanese Kabuki). |
(k) | Attend and contribute ideas during design and production meetings. |
(l) | Identify the composition and calculate the cost of a professional makeup kit. |
(m) | Identify training requirements for a licensed or certified professional makeup artist and/or special effects makeup artist. |
