Module 15B: Stage Management B (Optional)
Outcome
Assist with stage manager rehearsal and production responsibilities.
Indicators
(a) Attend production team meetings and take notes.
(b) Liaise between, and support communication among, production team members.
(c) Maintain rehearsal and production call sheets.
(d) Assist with the creation of schedules (e.g., for rehearsals, deadlines and performances).
(e) Distribute scripts and prepare cast and crew contact lists.
(f) Record director’s blocking in production book.
(g) Take line notes when actors are off book and prompt actors as needed.
(h) Organize backstage storage areas for rehearsals and performances in collaboration with team members.
(i) Assist the properties team and coordinate furniture and properties during rehearsals and production.
(j) Examine methods of organizing properties by acquisition (e.g., pulled, borrowed, adapted/transformed, created) and type (e.g., rehearsal, hand, costume and set).

Examine ways of managing properties backstage:

  • running list;
  • pre-set list;
  • properties tables; and,
  • consumables.
(l) Create and maintain a master properties list and plan (e.g., properties table, pre-set, stage left, stage right).
(m) Support cleanup after all rehearsals and performances.
