Apply principles and
techniques for injury
prevention to ensure
safety in agriculture
production.
Indicators
(a) | Perform basic safety procedures (e.g., storage and maintenance of tools, clean workspace, working at high heights and working around large equipment) as they apply to an agriculture production operation. |
(b) | Develop a list of rules for workplace safety including proper personal protective equipment (PPE), sanitation, neat and tidy work area and reporting workplace accidents and safety incidents |
(c) | Demonstrate the utilization and maintenance of protective devices on equipment. |
(d) | Demonstrate regular tool inspection and tag out procedures for repair of common tools used during agricultural production. |
(e) | Describe risks associated with above ground powerlines. |
(f) | Describe risks associated with buried underground services (e.g., SaskPower, SaskEnergy, SaskTel and oil transmission lines). |
(g) | Demonstrate the use of common agricultural production PPE according to the manufacturer's requirements. |
