Indicators
(a) Explore the relationship between sustainability and water and soil quality.
(b) Discuss Indigenous peoples' traditional values as they pertain to maintaining land and water health.
(c) Discuss the importance of historical and contemporary livestock and grain production practices that conserve water and maintain soil quality.

Explain the 4 Rs of nutrient stewardship:

  • right source;
  • right rate;
  • right time; and,
  • right place.
(e) Research current methods (e.g., avoid overgrazing, cover crop and direct seeding) for reducing soil erosion.
(f) Examine the effectiveness of various farming methods (e.g., minimum tillage and crop rotation) for conserving soil health.
(g) Explore the key principles and practice of regenerative agriculture.
