Explore transportation regulations including the movement of farm equipment and livestock on public roads.
Indicators
(a) Identify the licensing, insurance and operator's qualifications for handling different types of farm equipment on private land and public roads.
(b) Investigate the Ministry of Highways requirements (e.g., permits, restrictions such as width-height-length and weight, lighting, slow moving signs, clear visibility rules and escort vehicle requirements) to transport farm equipment, livestock and grain on provincial highways and roads.
(c) Discuss the implications that seasonal road restrictions have on a farming operation (e.g., marketing and labor requirements).
(d) Explore the requirements or exemption status for agricultural equipment and vehicles in the transportation of dangerous goods.
(e) Examine provincial and federal livestock transportation regulations (e.g., types of trailers, food and water requirements, manifest and the amount of time livestock can be hauled).
