(a) | Describe acceptable and unacceptable aspects of livestock management, such as principles of punishment and reward and physical and psychological abuse. |
(b) | Explore the laws governing improper treatment of animals. |
(c) | Research regulations governing enclosure size for specific types of livestock. |
(d) | Examine moral issues of the use of tools that cause pain (e.g., electric cattle prods, whips and electric fences) in livestock handling. |
(e) | Discuss the role of the Animal Protection Service of Saskatchewan (APSS). |
(f) | Explore codes of practice (e.g., Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Beef Cattle by National Farm Animal Care Council [NFACC]) in the handling of specific livestock. |
