Outcome
Investigate the assessment of livestock health.
Indicators
(a) Explore welfare assessment tools as recommended by the Canadian Council on Animal Care (CCAC).
(b) Perform an evaluation of an animal's vital signs including temperature, pulse and respiratory rate and recognize when additional care may be required.
(c) Identify the signs and symptoms of common livestock injuries, disorders and diseases.
(d) Assess livestock injuries, disorders and diseases to determine if veterinary care is required.
(e) Discuss the recognition and significance of conformation faults and blemishes in livestock.
(f) Investigate how body condition scoring is used to assess the health of different types of animals.
(g) Describe livestock dental and hoof issues that require treatment.
