(b) Describe the methods for controlling animal breeding (e.g., castration and separation of males from females).
(c) Explore the reproductive anatomy and terminology for male and female of livestock species (e.g., bull/cow, rooster/hen and stallion/mare).
(d) Identify the behaviours and characteristics (e.g., behaviours, eating, socializing and physiological signs of oestrous) exhibited by a female animal when in heat.
(e) Explain the operation of common aids (e.g., mount detectors and paints) for heat detection in females.
(f) Compare the different types of breeding technologies such as pasture breeding, hand breeding, artificial insemination, transporting cool semen and embryo transfer.
(g) Explore how to test for pregnancy and egg fertility of different livestock species.
