Outcome
Discuss characteristics of professional conduct.
Indicators
(a) Identify professional qualities such as being attentive, respectful, resourceful, diligent, responsible and ethical.
(b) Examine the role of professional organizations in setting and monitoring codes of conduct.
(c)

Discuss how individuals display professional conduct, including:

  • assuming their responsibilities;
  • maintaining close, attentive supervision;
  • being punctual;
  • managing time effectively;
  • demonstrating positive attitudes and behaviours;
  • communicating effectively;
  • seeking growth and improvement;
  • demonstrating emotional intelligence;
  • collaborating; and,
  • working safely.
(d) Discuss professional appearance in various professional caregiving environments.
(e) Examine the use of personal devices while at work in caregiving roles.
(f) Explore the necessity of establishing personal and professional boundaries.
(g) Explain what to do if boundaries have been crossed between the care recipient, their family and the caregiver.
