Outcome
Explore the social-emotional domain of development of infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
Indicators
(a) Explore aspects related to the social-emotional domain of development (e.g. developing self-concept and self-esteem, regulating emotions, interacting with others) from birth to six years of age.
(b) Explore self-awareness including name, favourite personal traits, interests, favourite food, extra-curricular activities, community and cultural connections.
(c) Research culturally appropriate ways to provide support to children who have difficulty separating from family.
(d) Role play a scene in which an early learning and child care caregiver models strategies to identify and regulate emotions.
(e) Model strategies, for different age groupings, to consider the perspective of others and show empathy.
(f) Develop a template to observe the social and emotional growth of a child in an early childhood setting.
(g) Discuss how social-emotional development might influence other areas of development.
