Outcome
Explore the social-emotional domain of development of infants, toddlers and preschoolers.
Indicators
(a) | Explore aspects related to the social-emotional domain of development (e.g. developing self-concept and self-esteem, regulating emotions, interacting with others) from birth to six years of age. |
(b) | Explore self-awareness including name, favourite personal traits, interests, favourite food, extra-curricular activities, community and cultural connections. |
(c) | Research culturally appropriate ways to provide support to children who have difficulty separating from family. |
(d) | Role play a scene in which an early learning and child care caregiver models strategies to identify and regulate emotions. |
(e) | Model strategies, for different age groupings, to consider the perspective of others and show empathy. |
(f) | Develop a template to observe the social and emotional growth of a child in an early childhood setting. |
(g) | Discuss how social-emotional development might influence other areas of development. |
