(a) | Investigate acute care. |
(b) | Research the challenges of working in acute care as a supportive care provider. |
(c) | Identify the supportive care provider’s responsibilities for physical examinations (e.g., collect linens, collect examination equipment, measure vital signs). |
(d) | Explain the different types of surgeries (i.e., elective, urgent, emergency) and their purposes (i.e., diagnostic, reconstructive, curative). |
(e) | Describe the supportive care provider’s role in supporting psychological care in acute care settings (e.g., listen to the patient about their fears, refer questions about the surgery to the nurse). |
(f) | Explore the steps and procedures involved in the pre-operative and postoperative periods. |
