(a) Explain how to handle linen according to the rules of standard practice (e.g., frequency of changes, order of application to bed, manipulation of the linen).
(b) List the types of bed linens used when making a patient’s bed.
(c) Recognize the different types of incontinence pads (e.g., reusable, disposable).
(d) Describe safety measures for bed making.
(e) Describe the differences between open beds (i.e., shortly before the bed is to be occupied), closed beds (i.e., expected to be unoccupied for several hours or days) and occupied beds (i.e., a bed being made while the patient is in the bed).
(f) Demonstrate the making of an open and a closed bed.
