Outcome
Explore childhood development disorders and disabilities requiring the support of a supportive care provider.
Indicators
(a) Identify causes and effects of common developmental disorders and disabilities (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy).
(b) Discuss how common developmental disorders and disabilities affect physical, social-emotional and intellectual function.
(c) Explain the impact a developmental disorder or disability can have on children and their families.
(d) Explore how children with developmental disorders are included in public school settings (e.g., transportation, in the classroom, during meals).
(e) Investigate the relationship between public education and health care systems that support children with developmental disorders and disabilities.
(f) Describe how to care for young students with developmental disorders and disabilities in schools and in personal homes.
(g) Assess the accessibility of a variety of indoor and outdoor community spaces (e.g., playgrounds, public libraries).
