Produce, with guidance, a variety of simple written Dakota texts on familiar topics, to express ideas, extend knowledge of the world, achieve objectives and for enjoyment.
Indicators for this outcome
(a)

Produce simple written Dakota texts (e.g., children’s books and posters) that address big ideas such as:

  • Dakota communities in Saskatchewan;
  • Circle of Life teachings; and,
  • kinship.
(b) Write to communicate meaning about a variety of familiar topics such as personal strengths and the gifts of the land.
(c) Compose a written message using simple expressions to communicate information to others (e.g., text message and emails).
(d) Communicate messages about time using 12-hour and traditional formats.
(e) Practise conveying messages for a variety of purposes in a variety of written formats (e.g., notes, lists and blogs).
(f) Provide basic written directions (e.g., how to start a fire) using simple sentences.
(g) Write short descriptions of personal lived experiences on the land.
