Indicators for this outcome
(a) Employ the unique sounds of the Dakota language (e.g., guttural and explosive) to communicate.
(b) Practise fluency when producing oral texts with complex sentences and phrases.
(c) Explore how to communicate actions in the past by using words that preface the action.
(d) Conjugate future-tense verbs in first, second and third person singular and plural in the context of land-based activities (e.g., I will go hunting, you will gather, they will be at the pow wow).
(e) Conjugate verbs based on the subject (e.g., I, you, we, they, all of us).

Employ descriptive language, such as:

  • adjectives to describe intensity (e.g., good and great).
  • adverbs to describe verbs and adjectives.
(g) Apply the inverted phrase structure of the Dakota language when speaking and writing.
