Outcome
Examine legislation, regulations and agencies that influence food policy in Canada.
Indicators
| (a) | Identify information (e.g., food guides, school nutrition guidelines, advisory councils) used to develop regional and/or national food policies. |
| (b) | Explore perspectives and land-use policies that influence the growing, gathering, hunting and harvesting of food, including numbered Treaties and Métis hunting and fishing rights (e.g., Morin and Daigneault decision). |
| (c) | Analyze the roles and responsibilities of Canadian government agencies and food companies in food labelling (e.g., regulations, nutrition facts, health claims, terminology, ingredients, calories, allergies, preservatives). |
| (d) | Describe how food promotion and marketing strategies are influenced by legislation, regulations and policies. |
| (e) | Predict how current and future trends in food and nutrition could impact legislation, regulations and policies. |
| (f) | Examine opportunities and challenges faced by First Nations and Métis people in Canada in relation to Treaty and land-use rights and selfgovernance of food policy. |
| (g) | Inquire into local regulations and guidelines for home-based food businesses such as catering, food trucks, meal delivery, food kits and food market vendors. |
| (h) | Examine the importance of food policies. |
| (i) | Research school or division food policies. |
| (j) | Investigate what supports are available for Saskatchewan schools to create, update and implement food policies. |
| (k) | Explore the use of policy and its effect on food security/insecurity locally, provincially and nationally. |
